Cinderella - homebrew/chef

If the install of mysql or cmake via homebrew fails with

dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libidn.11.dylib
    Referenced from: /usr/local/lib/libcurl.4.dylib
    Reason: image not found

make sure that there isn’t libidn / pkgconfig installed already. MySQL wouldn’t install because it required cmake to compile.

In our case the culprit was an old, hacky installation of old kinect- and/or imagemagick-libraries. Remember:

brew doctor 

is your friend.

Unexpected dylibs:
    /usr/local/lib/libcurl.4.dylib
    /usr/local/lib/libusb-1.0.0.dylib

Having additional scripts in your path can confuse software installed via Homebrew if
the config script overrides a system or Homebrew provided script of the same name.
